The Home Stretch

After today's events, I feel an update's in order.

Yesterday was spent driving from Sacramento to somewhere vaguely east of San Diego. Traffic, assholes in Aveos, and miscellaneous other douchebaggery considered, it took us almost twelve hours. Not bad for SoCal rush hour traffic.

Today, however, was the prize winner.

Around ten this morning, we hit a Border Patrol checkpoint somewhere near Yuma, near the Cali-Arizona border. No biggie, we're fine, upstanding citizens.

Apparently the heavily-trained german shepherd had thrown a rod and was sure we had mexicans and blow hidden somewhere amongst the luggage and kids. Therefore, we were "redirected" to the side of the highway, and I was asked to step out of the vehicle. Long story short, we managed to avoid having our belongings (along with the Explorer) ripped to small bits by angry uncaffeinated border patrol agents. I could've done with a cavity search, but the agent in question had big hands and dirty fingernails, so I opted for the polite approach. Ultimately, we were back on our way pretty quickly. I'll get some pics on the myspace page when I get a chance.

We're camped in an Econolodge in El Paso right now. The headaches are apparently staging an all-out reunion tour, so sleep's a no-go for now (until I can find where Misty hid the sominex). I'm just waiting for the nosebleeds that go along with it. That'll prove for an interesting vacation.

Tomorrow we're getting on the road around 0700, which should put us there around 1500 or 1600, so we still have time to relax. I'll be in touch.

I Swore I'd Never Go Back

Like that counts for fuckall anymore.

The car's packed; preparations are made for someone to mind the pets.

I've been dreading this - the pilgrimage to the shrine of the worst years of my adult life. Yes,
nearly all my friends are there, along with both sides of my family.

I hate it for the ghosts that show up at the most inopportune times, and for the slightest reasons. But the few who know how the inside of my head's painted know I can handle ghosts. It gets a bit harder, though, when they walk up and hug you...or stand there and hate you.

But I have to go. I'm expected, and I've given my word. Plus, I'll get to catch up with the boys, and spend three days solid getting rounded at any of my typical haunts. Then there's the whole wedding thing. I'll see if I can fit that in.

Misty just licked my nipple. I think it's time to go to bed.

For all my adoring fans

Felt like updating. I'm pretty sure this was at least partially prompted by Renae's telling me she actually reads this drivel. Whodathunkit?

Anyway, I'm bored. Been drinking my weight in some godawful strong coffee since around 8 this morning. I was geeked out on caffeine earlier, to the point that I was vibrating in E Minor; kinda like having adrenaline injected straight into your tear ducts by a coked-up midget. Fortunately, I've mellowed quite a bit since then.

Just finished running up a schedule of classes for the fall semester. Here's what we have so far:

These two are at the Marysville campus:
HIST-17B (US Hist Pt. 2) MWF 1100-1150
MATH-52 (Interm. Algebra) MTWTH 1000-1050

Then I head to the base....
IT-43AR (Unix Systems Mgmt) MTWTHF 1235-1350

and then deal with the online class:
IT-41AR (Network Tech) TBA TBA

All total, I'm taking 14 hours this fall.

That said, I think I'll take this summer off.
